Like those curly thingys, in one sence a suggestion of evil, or dripping tar, also the shape can be seen as a skull - the earphones as eyes, while the clean design works against this :-) actually when I am on this track, the circles are the rifles in a gun ala 007 classic opening graphics, maybe I am stretching things a bit now... :-)
